Going International :)
Posted on January 6, 2010 at 1:08 pm by generationdead and tagged blog challenge
I couldn’t find anyone’s blog from a differnt country so I did a little research on 5 different countries I though were interesting
1. Zimbobway-There is a serious clean water issue in Zimbobway. People have to walk like miles to get to the dirty water that could contain bacteria which could give all sorts of horrible diseases. I think we should send money to help out there.
2. China- China is a communist country. Most Chinese people like to eat rice and seaweed delicacies. Their living conditions are not good. they live in crammed apartments and ghettos.
3. Austraila- Austrailia is a beautiful Country that is also it’s own continent. Most of Austrailia is desert, but the beaches are beautiful and they have great scuba diving and sky diving businesses and tourist attractions.
4. Canada- Canada is a lot like America but colder. Their money is worth less and they export maple syrup. They’re biggets sport is Hockey, and they compete best in Olympic curling.
5. Mexico- Mexico has a rough economy right now. There are alot of drug issues. Mexico city actually is shrinking 3 inches a year becuase of earth plate movements. But they still have the best food, Churros, Enchiladas, tacos, Queso! YUM!

Global Climate
Posted on January 7, 2010 at 3:35 pm by generationdead and tagged blog challenge
As of today, Jan. 7, 2010…..
I really don’t think the climate has changed as drastically as everybody thinks. It’s only natural that the climate heats up or cools down as time progresses. In the 1950′s not so long ago, the whole world was worried about global cooling.
Though I do belive in Global Warming, I don’t belive the claims that it is all our fault. There are tons of natural causes and we are doing our best with “Going Green”.
It made me pretty mad that Al Gore was awarded the nobel prize. There are so many people put there doing great things for our nation that don’t even get recognized. Everybody already was trying to be eviromentally friendly by the time he freaked everybody out about Global Warming.
I don’t think science teachers have the right to tell us that it’s legit when there are still so many questions to be answered. It’s not right.

Texas Town on High Alert as Mexican Town Across Border Braces for Cartel Gun Battle

Residents of a small Mexican border town under siege by at least one of the country’s most notorious drug cartels are fleeing into a tiny Texas community, which is on high alert and preparing for a surge of illegal immigrants should a street battle break out with another cartel – or if gunmen begin carrying out a threat to start killing the town’s children.
At least 30 residents of El Porvenir, located about four miles from the Texas border town of Fort Hancock, have crossed into the U.S. and asked for political asylum, telling authorities that they fear for their lives. Fort Hancock officials tell FoxNews.com that they consider the situation serious.
“We just got word that the cartel has threatened to kill children in schools across the border unless parents paid $5000 pesos,” said Mike Doyle, chief deputy sheriff of Hudspeth County. And that time might come sooner than later. Schools Superintendent Jose Franco said word has spread that everyone in the Mexican town must stay indoors while members of rival cartels prepare for a shootout.
“I may not be working in school that day. I may be working as a medic,” said Franco, who moonlights as an ambulance paramedic.
Franco also confirmed the ransom demand for students across the border, adding that some of his students had already paid the money to be left alone.
According to Doyle, the cartel posted signs in El Porvenir earlier in the month ordering people in the town of 10,000 “to get out or pay with blood.” He said he wasn’t sure of the deadline that was given. “We have heard anywhere from a week to 40 days,” he said.
Since then, Fort Hancock, population 1700, has been in the grip of fear. The school district has seen a rise in the number of enrolled students as families in Mexico send their children to live with relatives on the other side of the border.
The Fort Hancock high school, one secretary said, is preparing for more pupils and holding conferences with law enforcement on how to face the crisis. Franco says contingency plans are being drawn up in case the entire population of El Porvenir flees. “It is what we fear the most,” he said.
Doyle said his office is on “high alert.” So far there has been no violence on the U.S. side of the border, “but I have had a few Fort Hancock residents killed across the border,” he said.
A former law enforcement officer who lives in Fort Hancock and asked not to be named said the siege of El Porvenir is important because the town straddles one of the oldest, least defended smuggling routes on the Mexican border.
“It is one of the key staging areas for the cartel and has no fences,” he said. “All they do is wait for shift change at the border posts and walk across. There is no obstruction to crossing the border here.”
And that, he said, “was the most likely cause of the violence 860 yards away.”
He said El Porvenir has been contested for some time, and machine gun fire is often heard coming from the town. “The mayor and his son were recently murdered,” he said. “They even have a pickup truck with a .50 caliber machine gun on top.”
While the problem has been seething for some time, it has finally gotten attention from both Washington and Austin. Last week Texas Gov. Rick Perry ordered a multiagency task force to the area. Rep. Kay Granger, the area congresswoman, pushed through the sale of three helicopters to the Mexican government to monitor the area. And the local sheriff has shifted patrols to the area in the hopes of stemming any violence that might spread across the border.
Idealism vs Realism
Posted on March 31, 2010 at 11:49 am by generationdead and
Idealism-the cherishing or pursuit of high or noble principles,
purposes, goals etc.
Realism-interest in or concern for the actual or real, as
distinguished from the abstract, speculative, etc.
In my opinion faith and family come first. Although duty to state
is also very important. In war sometimes you have to sacrifice
the time with your family so that you can keep them safe. War is a
very comlicated thing , evreyone encourages peace but
sometimes war in inevitable. Family should be the most
important thing in your life and the state you live in will greatly
affect your life. Your state protects and helps you build your
family therefor you have a duty to your state.

4. What is the stated purpose of licensing requirements? Is it a valid justification?
You have to be licensed in your practice so that people will know that you are a legitament deal and that they won’t be ripped off. This is also how you make sure that the people who run a business or practice in a certain feild are serious about what they do are are willing to go througfh work. It is a legal issue that has kept many problems from happening. Yes, this is a valid justification.
6. Are there other ways besides licensing requirements for people to find out wether people who provide various services are competent?
Yes, you can find out from friends or family about businesses and services, if you trust your friends and family then you should trust that they are competent. You can also find out by their sucess rate or an example of their services, or maybe legitament advertisements. Many people make a living and a following without being licensed in there service. Just like Mr.Mitz, he made a living for years and continues to today.
Refection: I honestly think that these people should be able to continue on in their businesses so long as they do a good job and the horses are safe. All these comlications with veterinarians and PETA crap is obnoxious. Why can’t they just leave these people alone. Horse teeth-floating in necassay for the horses comfort and life, so let the man do his business!
Learning about the Little Rock Nine gave me a whole new perspective on segregation. Hearing about how Melba got acid thrown into her eyes was shocking. Also the fact that Minnijean got suspended for minor offenses and she was standing up for herself after she was bullied and tortured! Living through highschool like that would have been hell. I respect those 9 students greatly and i know how hard it must have been for them to overcome such a challenge. They showed courage, determination and perserverence in the circumstance they were in. I’m so glad today today that they made that sacrifice for integration.

Prison is costing America billions of dollars. We are incarcerating so many people for silly “crimes” but also for serious offenses. Crime rate is increasing as technology grows and it becomes easier to lie, cheat, and steal. Child abuse increases because of our economy and the stressful life that parents lead, and those abused children often grow up to commit crimes and feel worthless in their lives. All of these crimes result in prison and jail which costs a lot of money to the United States. There is more money being spent on criminals than education and children. In Kentucky the inmate population has increased by 600 percent. Would spending more money on education prevent the adults of the future from commiting crimes? Maybe America needs to set her priorities straight.

Cox said an autopsy would be conducted to determine if Bohlig died of injuries, hypothermia or a combination of factors.
Bohlig had taken off a layer of clothing to cool down after reaching the summit and likely wasn’t protected against subfreezing overnight temperatures, Cox said.
Two attempts to reach Bohlig by helicopter were turned back Monday by winds and fading daylight after crews spotted him.
He had reached the summit with his friend Scott Salkovics after a four-hour hike. Bohlig took off his backpack and some clothing then decided to pose for pictures.
Salkovics told KGW that Bohlig handed a camera to another hiker and was backing up when the snow gave way and he fell. The hiker threw himself toward Bohlig but couldn’t catch him.
“Boom, it busted off and I saw him clawing for the edge with a startled look on his face, and then he disappeared,” Salkovics told the TV station.
Salkovics threw a backpack down to his friend, but Cox said Bohlig was not able to reach it.
Bohlig was alive and blowing a rescue whistle soon after the fall. He had climbed the volcano 68 times before the accident, Cox said.
The volcano, about 100 miles south of Seattle, exploded in a massive eruption in 1980 but has been quiet in recent years.
The U.S. Forest Service said the climbing route provides views of the crater, lava dome and eruption area. Most climbers can complete the round trip in seven to 12 hours.
The trail reaches an elevation of 8,365 feet. Climbers are advised to stay well back from the rim due to its instability.
North Country Emergency Medical Services Chief Tom McDowell, who has been with the local emergency agency for 39 years, said the only other time a person fell from the rim was in 2008 when a snow cornice gave way under a snowmobiler, who was rescued by a helicopter and suffered a knee injury.
About 13,000 people climb the mountain each year.

1. Solo means alone. By yourself, as if to sing solo. Solitude is a state. As if to sit in solitude, quiet, peaceful and alone. Solitary means one. As in one solitary thing left. And desolate is a way to describe something (in a negative way) like lonely and empty.
2. A philosopher is
| a person who offers views or theories on profound questions in ethics, metaphysics, logic, and other related fields. Whereas a philologist is a person who studies literary texts and of written records, the establishment of their authenticity and their original form, and the determination of their meaning.
- Regicide is the killing of a king. Whereas an interregnum isan interval of time between the close of a sovereign’s reign and the accession of his or her normal or legitimate successor.
3. Living an an aerie would give me a profound sense of what was going on around me and below me. I would know everything that was happening before it happened. i would see things coming and have a different view than anybody else. People may like to be in high enclosed places for that very reason or maybe to feel above everyone else and to be alone and think.
4. Yes. We should continue to observe the policies. Diplomacy allows us to interact with other nations safely. We can carry direct messages through diplomats and it gives us a well rounded worldly connection.
5.Honestly, being chased by stone age cannibals I would run screaming. But if i could I would try to introduce them to better food, distract them. Or I might tell them I was Godess and if they ate me they would explode.
6. Haplopia-normal vision
dichotomy-divide into 2
macrocosm- great world
effusive-overflowing
apogeotropism-growth away from earth
7. They are all cell organisms with life forces.
8. To send instant messages. To advance in science and technology, and to make life easier on working people.
9. Yes, I think authorities have the right to study kids fingerprints to find out who the vandals are.
10. I would levitate my friends makeup while they were trying to get ready for school |

1. Our working age population is dropping year by year
2.Birthrates are plummeting.
3. A reason for people not having as many kids could be because our economy is bad and they are not well of enough to support them.
4. hispanics make up an increasingly large share of the work force.
5. by 2050 we’ll have only about half of America at a working age, paying for our society.
6. As of right now, compared to other countries we have an average population of working americans.
7. At this rate as of 2050 we will have about as many working people as India does right now…this would not be good for our nation.
8. People are spending more and more money on benefits like social security, medicare, and medicaid.
As an teenager I am worried about the graying of America because by 2050 I will be still at working age and I will be the one paying higher taxes and caring for the nations children and elderly. Then I will have less money for retirement, and to spend freely or maybe send my kids to college, because only half the country will even be old enough to pay taxes in the first place. The graying of America is dangerous for everyone. We have to be careful with how money in our nation is distributed and who has it and if only half of our nation is working class, than what happens to the other half….there will be too may jobs to fill. Older people will still have to work and take longer to retire. Kids starting at 18 who don’t go to college are going to half to get a job right away just to make things work out.

1. What is the authors purpose?
The authors purpose was to inform the reader of the corruption in our society and how all these self esteem issues are really our fault.
2. Who is the intended audience?
-I think anybody could be affected by this article bust most of all parents.
REFELECTION:
My mom is a photographer and retouch is not a crime…it’s what people want to see when they get their picture taken…a moment in time where they were beautiful, even if its been enhanced and messed with it’s fun to look at a beautiful picture and be like “Yeah that’s me”
